The mission of the Centre for Psychological and Trans-disciplinary Research


The mission of the Centre for Psychological and Trans-disciplinary Research is to study the problems which the individual is confronted with in the Romanian society, in the adaptation process following the European integration and in the context of globalization. Another component of the Centre’s mission is the proposal and implementation of solutions leading to an improvement in the quality of life. The trans-disciplinary approach will ensure the openness and flexibility required for the identification of viable solutions within the given context (European integration and globalization), which would respect the individuality of each person in diversity and complexity, in a spirit of rigorousness, tolerance and openness.
The objectives of the Centre for Psychological and Trans-disciplinary Research

  • The Development of research directions regarding the psychological adaptation to the conditions of European integration and globalization: the identification of psycho-social issues which the society is confronted with, as a result of the accession to the European Union and in the context of globalization, analysis, sustenance and improvement of the adaptation to the new educational system, cultural diversity, inter- and trans-cultural communication, adaptation to the situation of individual and social crisis.
  • The implication, in the community’s interactions, with other education and psychological intervention/ formation providers, and with the social security institutions.
  • The collaboration with the institutions responsible for the implementation of new socio-cultural policies and the achievement of common actions, conferences, symposiums and workshops; the collaboration with public administration institutions, and with economic and social units.
  • The collaboration with communitarian organizations and institutions with a view to ensuring a psycho-social support in overcoming the issues identified through fundamental and applied studies, carried out within the framework of the centre.
  • The study of current educational tendencies in the context of rapid changes occurring in the contemporary multi-, inter- and trans-cultural society;
  • The elaboration of research projects regarding to the adjustment to the work place and future prospects in this field, inter- and trans-cultural communication, adaptation to the situation of individual and social crisis, adaptation to cultural diversity.
  • The organization of scientific events (scientific paper sessions, symposiums, conferences, round tables) on topics related to the objectives of the centre.
  • The formation of partnerships with similar research institutions in the country and abroad for the purpose of conducting comparative studies regarding the impact of education, its role in the society and its contribution to the development of a European culture.


Research areas of the Centre for Psychological and Trans-disciplinary Research
The activity of the Centre for Psychological and Trans-disciplinary Research is focused on the objectives of the Centre and is aimed at developing and promoting research and intervention from two perspectives:
(1) a disciplinary perspective: that pertaining to psychology and
(2) a trans-disciplinary perspective.
The trans-disciplinary attitude, which implies rigorousness, openness and tolerance, characterizes all the research demarches being carried out by the Centre. In addition to this, certain researches are intended to the study of subjects from a trans- disciplinary perspective, aiming to form an integrative and complex image of the studied phenomenon. Research directions of the centre:
Adaptation to cultural diversity

  • Adjustment to the work place and the prospects of the labour market
  • Inter- and trans-cultural communication
  • Adaptation to the situation of individual and social crisis
  • The analysis and improvement of the adaptation to the new educational system, including lifelong education and e-learning
  • Community development and social insertion
  • Support for persons in difficulty

The Staff of the Centre for Psychological and Trans-disciplinary Research The CPTR team is composed of tenured or associated teachers of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, Western University „Vasile Goldis” of Arad, master and PhD candidates and undergraduate or master students.
