GEOGRAPHY OF TOURISM

The undergraduate program Geography of Tourism gives the possibility to deepen some avant-garde fields in geography, directly related to the scientific knowledge of the tourism phenomenon, including in view of sustainable development. This program contributes both to the capitalization of the tourist potential and to the specification of the possibilities of its rational exploitation, in view of the sustainable development and the European integration.

 

The general objective of the program is to train highly qualified human resources in the field, by acquiring complex knowledge of geography with applications in Tourism Geography and its perspectives both nationally and internationally. Also, the specialization aims to facilitate the acquisition of methods, skills and abilities that allow graduates to come specialists in tourism geography, to cover the need for specialized human resources needed in the labor market.

SKILLS

Professional skills

  • Defining and describing the main notions, legalities, processes and geographical phenomena, explaining their genesis and evolution, evaluating the consequences they have on natural and anthropogenic geographical systems.
  • Identification and analysis of the geographical potential for tourism purposes
  • Processing the data obtained in theoretical research and analysis of results.
  • Using ICT to process information and analyze it.
  • Argumentation of solutions based on the corroboration of information from different sources, with didactic, scientific and popularization character in the field of geography
  • Applying the principles of multi and interdisciplinarity in approaching the field of geography

  • CT1 Application of efficient and responsible work strategies, based on the principles, norms and values ​​of the code of professional ethics.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

  • training of highly qualified human resources, with transdisciplinary theoretical and practical training, able to address systemic issues, complex in the field of Tourism Geography;
  • developing research capacity in the field of Tourism Geography, defining material, human and financial efforts and promoting tourism, in line with trends at European and global level through the possibility of its rational exploitation, for sustainable development and European integration;
  • ensuring the conditions for expressing the scientific potential of academics, researchers and students by continuing and developing the process of integrating research programs into the international scientific network;
  • the extension of the services provided to the different tourist economic units through the transfer of technologies obtained as a result of national and international patents, to the economic environment.
