The Zalău Extension was established in 2001, when the “Vasile Goldiș” Western University of Arad expanded its presence into the heart of Sălaj County. The first programs brought accredited university studies closer to young people in the area, without requiring them to relocate to major university centers. A stable academic presence in a county with solid industrial and administrative tradition.

Over more than two decades, the extension has continuously adapted to the realities of the Sălaj labor market. Today, the offering covers fields with direct relevance to the county—economic and pedagogical—in which UVVG graduates have long been present in companies, in administration, and in the preschool and primary education system in Sălaj. Partnership with local employers ensures that our students find internship and employment opportunities in the community where they live.

The extension operates at 3 Corneliu Coposu Street, Zalău, with its own teaching staff, with programs accredited or provisionally authorized by ARACIS, and with the same rights for students as at any UVVG campus in Arad—including Erasmus+ mobility and access to all university services.
