Program Structure
The PhD program in Pharmacy has a duration of 4 years (8 semesters) and comprises two mandatory components: the Advanced University Training Program and the Scientific Research Program.
PROGRAM STRUCTURE
The advanced training program is conducted based on a curriculum approved by CSUD and endorsed by the Senate. The mandatory courses provide a unified approach to scientific research and competencies in project management, research valorization, research ethics, and biostatistics.
Mandatory courses:
Scientific Research Methodology
Research Ethics
Design and Writing of a Scientific Paper
Statistical Processing of Experimental Data (I and II)
Research Project Management
Fundamental Principles in Using Information Technology for Research
Communication
Semester 2 concludes with the development of the Scientific Research Program Project — a document that defines the doctoral theme, objectives, methodology, and schedule of planned activities.
Graduates of research Master’s programs hosted by the Doctoral Schools may have mandatory courses recognized through a request addressed to the Doctoral School Council.
The research program is organized individually for each doctoral student by the PhD supervisor. Research activity is evaluated through four reports presented before the guidance committee:
Report 1 (sem. 3): Bibliographic report — current state of knowledge in the field
Report 2 (sem. 4): Bibliographic report — in-depth exploration of the doctoral topic
Report 3 (sem. 5): Intermediate research results
Report 4 (sem. 6): Intermediate research results
Evaluation is conducted with the following grades: excellent · good · satisfactory · unsatisfactory. The interval between two consecutive presentations cannot exceed 12 months.
The research program concludes with the preparation and public defense of the doctoral thesis (semester 7/8).
SDM periodically organizes specialized conferences with international collaborators to which all doctoral students are invited, regardless of their program stage.
Public defenses of doctoral theses and habilitation theses are open to the academic community and are announced at least 15 days in advance on the university’s website.
UVVG PhD students have access to their own research infrastructure and international databases through the university’s institutional subscriptions.
