ABOUT THE FACULTY

“Established in 1994, the Faculty of Socio-Human Sciences and Physical Education and Sport trains specialists in fields that place people at the center — psychology, social work, political science, communication, physical education, and sport. Its programs are designed for a changing labor market and are recognized within the European area according to the principles of the Bologna Process.

Arad is not just any city for the humanities. As the historical capital of the Great Union, it carries a tradition of ideas, debate, and civic values. Our faculty was consciously built on this foundation — not as an ornament, but as a direction: we train people who understand society, not merely describe it.

Our graduates work in public and private institutions, in Romania and abroad — in schools, hospitals, sports clubs, civic organizations, and public administration. We do not send them into the labor market unprepared. We send them with a real profession, practical experience, and the ability to adapt. A smaller faculty means that professors know you and follow your progress. This is not a detail — it is the difference between a diploma and an authentic education.”

Dean

“Our faculty trains people who care for other people. This requires not only knowledge, but also empathy, resilience, and vocation — qualities we consciously cultivate in every year of study.”

We bring together disciplines centered on the human being — from psychological, educational, linguistic, and physical perspectives. Our programs combine theory with field practice, in partnership with schools, hospitals, psychology offices, and sports clubs in Arad and the region.

Our students are not registration numbers. They are known by their professors, involved in research, and connected to the community from their first year. When they graduate, they leave with a degree recognized throughout Europe and with a profession they know how to practice — in education, health, performance sports, translation, or counseling. We strongly believe that the future is open to those who dare and persevere. I like to conclude with the encouragement that Queen Isabella of Spain addressed to Christopher Columbus upon his departure:

“Sail straight ahead, and if the land you seek does not yet exist, be sure that God will create it on purpose to reward your daring.”

“I encourage young high school graduates from Maramureș to enroll in our programs. A familiar, warm and friendly academic environment, experienced teaching staff — and the same diplomas as anywhere in the country.”

The faculty trains specialists in social-human, sports and educational fields, through accredited programs that integrate scientific research and applied practice. Graduates contribute to community well-being through competencies in psychology, pedagogy, kinesiotherapy and physical education.

Mission – to train competent, ethical and empathetic specialists in social-human fields, physical education and kinesiotherapy — capable of contributing to individual and community well-being, through education, research and responsible professional practice.

Vision – a faculty recognized regionally as a training center for professionals working with people — psychologists, pedagogues, kinesiotherapists and coaches — who integrate science with humanism and practice with critical reflection.

Strategic Objectives – Continuous updating of curricula in dialogue with the labor market. Expansion of the network of partner institutions for internships. Increasing research visibility in BDI and ISI indexed journals. Strengthening master’s programs as advanced professional training.
