Why choose to study Institutions of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure?

The Master’s programme in Institutions of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure focuses on the ways and means of preventing and combating crime—a phenomenon that is continuously increasing and diversifying. The programme meets an urgent need for training and professional development in fields such as the judiciary, legal practice, the police, and others.

Following the Romanian state’s ratification of legal instruments at European and international level, numerous laws have been adopted in criminal law, criminal procedure, criminal enforcement law, and international judicial cooperation. In line with these legislative developments, the Master’s programme aims to assimilate the most up-to-date national and European standards—with an emphasis on students’ ability to identify and propose legislative and institutional solutions in efforts to prevent and combat crime.

At the same time, Master’s studies in this field are recognised as training placements within the legal professions, contributing to the development of specialists with a solid grounding in criminal law.

Why choose to study this specialisation at UVVG?

  • Training placements recognised in the legal professions—judiciary, legal practice, judicial police

  • Up-to-date legislation—the curriculum incorporates recent legislative changes in national criminal law and European legal instruments ratified by Romania

  • Practitioner teaching staff—active judges, criminal defence lawyers, and judicial police officers teach from real casework

  • Small groups—discuss cases in a round-table setting, not in a 200-seat lecture hall

  • Access to legal databases—ICCJ, Sintact, EUR-Lex, ECHR—integrated into teaching activities

  • Erasmus+ mobility opportunities for Master’s students—academic and research placements at European law universities

  • Your dissertation can address legislative reform—you propose solutions, not just summarise doctrine
