ABOUT THE STRUCTURE

About the complex

It is directly subordinated to the UVVG Senate, in accordance with Senate Decision No. 113/14.09.2015, Art. 6. The Complex’s field of study includes multiculturalism, interculturalism, the promotion of local, national, and universal heritage, as well as the coordination of structures and centers within the University with such a scope of activity. Center for Jewish Studies

Established in 2004, 10 Tribunul Dobra St., Arad

At the end of March 2004, the Center for Jewish Studies was opened, as part of the “Vasile Goldiș” Institute for Studies and Research. It was the first Jewish studies center established within a private educational institution in Romania.
The establishment of the Center responded to significant shifts in collective mindsets in the contemporary era—a new convergence between Judaism and Christianity, embraced by the major Churches of the world, and the need to reassess Jewish culture in the context of recognizing the breadth of the history of the Jewish people.
The opening was honored by the presence of H.E. Rodica Radian Gordon, Ambassador of the State of Israel to Romania, Rector Prof. Dr. Aurel Ardelean, the presidents of the Jewish Communities in the western part of the country, as well as representatives of academia and local authorities.
The Center’s initiative also aligns with the Ministry of Education’s tendency to support research focused on crucial topics in contemporary history, including Holocaust studies.

Friedrich Schiller German Studies Center

Established in 2006, German language, culture and civilization

The Center was established in 2006, following the Collaboration Agreement signed in November 2005 between the University of Wiesbaden and UVVG Arad. Inaugurated during the “Arad Academic Days,” the Center addressed a real need: the study of the German language at an academic level in an area with a consolidated pro-German tradition.
