Established in 2004, 10 Tribunul Dobra St., Arad
At the end of March 2004, the Center for Jewish Studies was opened, as part of the “Vasile Goldiș” Institute for Studies and Research. It was the first Jewish studies center established within a private educational institution in Romania.
The establishment of the Center responded to significant shifts in collective mindsets in the contemporary era—a new convergence between Judaism and Christianity, embraced by the major Churches of the world, and the need to reassess Jewish culture in the context of recognizing the breadth of the history of the Jewish people.
The opening was honored by the presence of H.E. Rodica Radian Gordon, Ambassador of the State of Israel to Romania, Rector Prof. Dr. Aurel Ardelean, the presidents of the Jewish Communities in the western part of the country, as well as representatives of academia and local authorities.
The Center’s initiative also aligns with the Ministry of Education’s tendency to support research focused on crucial topics in contemporary history, including Holocaust studies.
Historical research, cultural heritage
The “Vasile Goldiș” Historical and Cultural Studies Center conducts scientific research in the field of local, national, and European history and culture, leveraging the intellectual legacy of the personality after whom the university is named.

Established in 2006, German language, culture and civilization
The Center was established in 2006, following the Collaboration Agreement signed in November 2005 between the University of Wiesbaden and UVVG Arad. Inaugurated during the “Arad Academic Days,” the Center addressed a real need: the study of the German language at an academic level in an area with a consolidated pro-German tradition. The German partnership resulted in the provision of multimedia equipment, specialized bibliography, interactive courses, the Brockhaus collection, and dictionaries in electronic format.
