The “Tudor Arghezi” University Library of the “Vasile Goldiş” Western University of Arad is set as a system formed of the central unit and 18 specialised units (libraries of the faculty, departments, centres for stud and research, and libraries of the University branches), it establishes the required documentary holding by free access to a wide range of information resources: more than 570,000 tomes (100,500 titles), 77 subscriptions to national and international specialised periodicals, 11 databases:

It provides constantly quality and efficient services, it develops, maintains and grants access to ample fields of information resources, analysing the selection of sources and information resources for modern development of the education system, it provides assisting in finding information, development of the students’ capacity to select, assess and use the bibliographic materials, it provides facilities to allow effectively the study, the research by providing access to the entire documentary holding, serving as area for meeting and exchange of ideas between the student recently involved in the study program and the consecrated researcher in the field.
The rhythm of book holding development is in average of 3,000 tomes/ year (purchase of new papers, inter-library exchange and donations), with a mean of 800 titles.
Their distribution on main fields of study is presented in the diagram.
