About

ERASMUS+

The new Erasmus + 2021-2027 program offers opportunities for study periods abroad, internships, apprenticeships and staff exchanges in all areas of education, training, youth and sport.

It is open to pupils, students in higher education and vocational education and training, adult learners, youth exchanges, youth workers and sports coaches.

The main features of the Erasmus + 2021-2027 program are:

Inclusive Erasmus +: providing more opportunities for people with fewer opportunities, including people from diverse cultural, social and economic backgrounds and people living in rural and remote areas. News include individual exchanges for students and mobility for students and adult learners. The program will also be more international to cooperate with third countries, building on the successes of the previous program with exchanges and cooperation projects around the world, now extending to sports and vocational education and training.

Digital Erasmus +: The pandemic highlighted the need to accelerate the digital transition of education and training systems. Erasmus + will support the development of digital skills, in line with the Digital Education Action Plan. It will provide high quality digital training and exchanges through platforms such as eTwinning, the school education portal and the European Youth Portal and will encourage internships in the digital sector. New formats, such as combined intensive programs, will allow short-term physical mobility abroad to be complemented by online learning and teamwork. The implementation of the program will be further digitized and simplified with the full launch of the European Student Card.

Green Erasmus +: According to the European Green Deal, the program will provide financial incentives to participants using sustainable modes of transport. It will also invest in projects to raise awareness of environmental issues and facilitate exchanges related to climate change mitigation.

Last but not least, the DiscoverEU initiative, part of the new program, will give 18-year-olds the opportunity to discover Europe’s cultural heritage and diversity.

By investing in people, knowledge and skills, the new program will address global challenges, focus on the social component and facilitate competitiveness at European level.
